KUALA LUMPUR: After admitting that he had married local actress Zizie Ezette, Kinabatangan Member of Parliament Datuk Bung Moktar Radin is now appealing to the media for privacy.
“I am a human being like others. I need privacy and room for my family.
“The matter (referring to his marriage to Zizie) is now over.
“I have had an akad nikah (solemnisation of marriage) ceremony with her. Why continue to highlight my family? There seems to be no end to it,” he said in a telephone call from overseas yesterday morning.
He also appealed to the media not to disturb his family for updates on his marriage.
“Please stop harassing my family. They need peace to move on with life,” said the 50-year-old Bung Moktar.
On Sunday, after days of repeatedly denying the marriage, Bung Moktar admitted that he and the 31-year-old actress were now husband and wife.
Prior to that, he had said that he would only announce the good news when the timing was right, stressing that he did not want to hurt the feelings of others.
Many believed that the “others” Bung Moktar kept referring to was his family, particularly first wife Datin Nor Asidah Alimuddin.
Bung Moktar is currently overseas with his children while Zizie is filming the drama Suraya.
Bung Moktar is among the more well-known and colourful MPs due to his sometimes controversial comments in the Dewan Rakyat.
